93 POINTS: A TOP-RATED KONA PEABERRY COFFEE
This 100% Kona Peaberry coffee was the best Kona peaberry and second-highest rating in a cupping of Hawaiian coffees for Coffee Review’s May 2019 tasting report. Peaberry coffees tend to have a greater density of flavor, sugars, and lipids compared to regular coffee beans. You could think of these Kona peaberry beans as being the 'only child' of a coffee cherry, enjoying all the nutrients to itself.
Peaberry coffees are rare, comprising only 3-7% of the total crop. These pea-shaped, natural formations of the coffee bean are thought to form when several pistils get knocked off the coffee flower, causing only one seed to form inside the coffee fruit rather than two.
Coffee Review Assessment, 2019:
Blind Assessment: Rich-toned, deeply sweet. Black cherry, magnolia, fresh-cut cedar, maple syrup, a hint of thyme in aroma and cup. Sweet-toned structure with round, gentle acidity; lush, syrupy mouthfeel. Resonant finish that centers around notes of black cherry and cedar. (Medium-light roast profile)
This Kona Peaberry coffee tied for the second-highest rating in a cupping of Hawaiian coffees for Coffee Review’s May 2019 tasting report. Produced entirely of the Typica variety of Arabica and processed by the traditional wet or “washed” method, in which skin and fruit flesh are removed from the beans or seeds before they are dried. This sample also consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of bean that results when the coffee fruit develops only a single, oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Peaberries produce a somewhat different (often better) cup than normal beans from the same crop, from which they may or may not be separated during grading. If you notice a white color to your bar, it's perfectly safe to eat. This happens when the cocoa butter softens and migrates to the surface. It happens more often when shipping in warm weather. Learn more about blooming.

This is one of the best Kona coffees I have ever had. It is creamy and sweet I bought the medium dark and it is perfect for me. I use a little less grounds than I did with my prior Kona medium roast coffee, not a bad thing.
I had extremely high expectations for this coffee, and they were easily exceeded. This is by far the best coffee I've ever tried. I made it with a 16:1 ratio in my Chemex (with 200F water) and had it just black. Absolute perfection. Just do yourself a favor and try this coffee. I seriously didn't know coffee could taste this good. Make sure to try it just black. Cream and sugar dilute all the amazing nuances of this coffee.
Really enjoyed my cup of coffee this morning, by far the best coffee.
We Love this coffee! It's pretty special since we must order it. So, it has become our Friday morning pour over love in a cup! It reminds us of being in Hawaii. You can taste the love that goes into making this very special coffee! Gold Star! Highly recommend!
I used my Clever Dripper which to me is a cross between a pour over and a French press. To my palate, there is a smoothness and subtle wine like flavor that cannot be matched. I ordered the Light-Medium roast, whole bean, which I then ground right before brewing. Also, I typically consume my coffee with cream, but I only used a fraction of my normal amount and perhaps next time, I’ll drink it plain. It is that good! Treat yourself, I highly recommend.
Excellent coffee and wonderful service. Thank you.
