Brew Perfect French Press with Maui Mokka

A step by step guide on how to brew perfect French press coffee with Maui Mokka

What you'll need:

  • Kettle
  • French Press
  • Scale
  • Burr Grinder
  • Coffee


  1. Preheat French press with hot water
  2. Pour water into mug to keep it warm
  3. Use a water to coffee ratio of 17:1 - 425g of water to 25g of coffee
  4. Measure out 25g (about 3 tbsp) of freshly roasted coffee
  5. Grind coffee on a coarse setting (should look like coarse sea salt)
  6. Start your timer and add enough hot water to saturate all the grounds, about 70-100g of hot water around 200-205℉
  7. Let bloom for around 30 sec, the bloom releases gases in the coffee
  8. Gently stir the grounds to make sure they are evenly saturated
  9. After the bloom, add remaining water - about 425g or 15oz of water total
  10. Give it another quick stir and allow it to brew for 4 min.
  11. After 4 min. press the plunger down
  12. Decant your coffee into a mug, which ends the extraction
  13. Enjoy!
