Carbonic maceration is a Beaujolais wine-making technique that often produces juicy, fruit-forward wines. Recently it's been experimentally practiced by coffee producers, resulting in coffees with powerful berry flavors, aromatic intensity, and sweetness.
This is an extremely rare version of an already rare coffee. Once it's out, it's out.
Geisha coffee is a variety that originated in Ethiopia, renowned for the aromatic, complex, floral, and fruit-forward profile it produces. Due to rarity and demand, Geisha coffees can reach up to $600 per lb, and retail in cafes for $9-$18/ cup.
To cultivate this rare Kona Geisha the family practices cover-cropping, composting and interplanting to protect the ecosystem and attract butterflies, bees, and pollinators to their land.
Their commitment to maintaining healthy soil and perfect harvesting has paid off in the form of their numerous awards, like earning Grand Champion in the 2018 Hawaii Coffee Association Cupping Competition, and 1st place in the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival.
