Our producer has suffered tremendous infrastructure losses. Their mill, warehouse, and inventory have all been destroyed. From what we know, their teams and families are safe but they're in a tough situation.
The outlook for Maui coffees after this event is very uncertain. While the crops are still ripening, there is no infrastructure to harvest and process them. As a result, we're planning to remove and re-allocate our remaining inventory of Maui coffee.
Despite the outlook for Maui coffee being uncertain, as an homage to Maui we've blended a portion of the remaining crop with two lovely specialty coffees from Central and South America. 100% of proceeds from our online and cafe sales of this new Lāhainā Strong Blend will go directly to the Maui Strong Fund.
This blend is available as both a medium and dark roast. Low on acidity but high on flavor, the cup profile is balanced, mellow, and smooth, making it the perfect coffee to enjoy black or with cream.
Mahalo for the continued love and support,
All of us at Big Island Coffee Roasters

Maui Green Coffee Tasting notes: Almond biscotti with orange zest, vanilla, cinnamon and honey. Balanced, mellow and smooth.
Green Coffee Origin: 100% Maui coffee
This fresh crop Maui coffee comes from the late 2019 harvest season off the slopes of Maui's west mountains, from a large single estate farm in Ka'anapali.
It's comprised of coffees processed via both the washed and the dried-in-fruit / natural methods, whereby the cherries are dried on the trees then shaken loose at harvest. In Maui's hot sun, the coffee cherries dry quickly and the coffee beans are tightly wrapped in the residual fructose of the fruit. Later, after harvest, the dried fruit is hulled away from the green beans and a gently fruited, low acid coffee remains, ready for roasting.
The ripe, juicy qualities of this yellow caturra variety, in combination with the natural processing method and Maui's unique terroir, create a sweet, mellow Maui coffee with strong notes of almond, vanilla and baking spices.
Big Island Coffee Roasters prides itself in showcasing only the best Hawaiian artisanal coffee available. We work hand in hand with our farmers to ensure that we yield the highest quality coffee beans on the island. Take a closer look at our Hawaiian and Kona coffee selections.

Because Espresso Bites are made without stabilizers or preservatives, they may bloom or melt when shipping temperatures exceed 80 F. If this is a concern in your location please select FedEx shipping.
If you notice a white color to your bar, it's perfectly safe to eat. This happens when the cocoa butter softens and migrates to the surface. It happens more often when shipping in warm weather. Learn more about blooming.
Espresso Bites that melt or bloom when shipped via FedEx are eligible for a full refund or credit.
Espresso Bites that melt or bloom when the buyer elects Free Shipping or standard USPS are eligible for a credit.
