Do you offer tours of your coffee farm and roastery?
Yes, we do, on a limited basis.
Tours last 30 – 60 minutes depending on the number of questions your group asks. We’ll take you from farm to cup, beginning in the field and ending in the roastery. You can expect to learn a lot on the tour, so we encourage you to bring questions and take notes.
You’ll see how our boutique coffees are made, beginning with several varieties of coffee trees, a walk though our artisan pulping, drying, and milling process, and into the micro-roastery. You’ll meet the cats, chickens and sheep, and gain an up-close understanding of how the 3 main processes – washed, honey, and natural – affect the flavor and aroma of coffee. By the end of the tour you’ll understand why grading coffee is important and how grade names can be deceiving.
The Hawaii coffee tour fee is $30 for up to 6 people, and $10 per person after six. For groups above 10 people, including educational groups and weddings, please contact us for rates.
Send an email to April@bigislandcoffeeroasters.com to schedule your tour. Please include your requested dates and the number of people in your group. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.

From our experience there are rarely simple answers in coffee production and processing, and it’s tough to give a good or thorough answer in a quick email. With as much time and commitment as it takes develop a successful farm, we believe it does a disservice to you and risks mis-interpretation to answer these questions quickly.
